Background
Lauren Holdman was born in London in the year 1900 and grew up amongst wonders we now take for granted. Automobiles, planes, films; these technologies were the hallmarks of a world undergoing massive changes, and Lauren was near to all of it. Her father, Adam Holdman, was a wealthy industrialist with a keen nose for new trends and an unhealthy obsession with his daughter. Mrs. Holdman had died in childbirth and, left alone with his daughter, Mr. Holdman had sent her to be raised by a succession of nurses and nannys. Lauren didn't meet her father properly until she moved in with him at the age of 12.
The sex started soon afterward.
Mr. Holdman alternated between abusing his daughter for his own pleasure and treating her like a princess. She was given anything she wanted, so long as she kept his secret. Jewlery, Clothes, Horses, Servants, anything was hers for the asking.
But that wasn't what she wanted. By the age of 15 Lauren knew what she really wanted;
Power.
Lauren had learned how to manipulate men by their desires, turning them about her little finger and making them her slaves. Sex had become a tool in her arsenal and she used it without mercy.
At 18 Lauren had begun to seek out other men to control, other pawns to play with. Her fathers associates were the most obvious targets and before long she was the secret woman for a half dozen old and perverted men.
And one vampire.
With all her skill and connections Lauren was a ripe target for the Haunt named Rupert Gedgrave. It certainly didn't help that he felt some echo of lust at the sight of her. Rupert used a combination of blood binding and domination to overcome her disgust with him, regularly visiting her in the moonlight to instruct her manipulations and satisfy his urges.
It was in 1921, on the eve of her 21st birthday that Rupert finally embraced her. Overcome by his phantasmal emotions he drained her in her own bedroom before giving her his putrid gift.
When her father walked in the scene things went from bad to worse.
Rupert tore Mr. Holdman apart which drew the attention of the serving staff. The staff summoned the constables and Rupert was forced to flee into the night, with Lauren on his shoulder.
When she finally awoke it was alone and in a mausoleum. A well maintained and opulent mausoleum, but a place of the dead nonetheless. Strangely, the Nosferatu curse seemed to inhibit her only minimally; her beauty seemed maintained at least to her. To others however she was undescribably terrifying. A cruel and terrible beauty which both entranced and repulsed.
Lauren quickly realized her situation and refused to be the servant to her new master. His hidden manipulations were one thing, but to be openly dominated was unacceptable. She hired a pair of men to destroy him while he slept and quickly departed for greener pastures. America.
Lauren maintained her contacts within the industrial world and her inheritance from her father was signifcant. She set herself up in the colonies and began to weave her web in both the human and vampiric world.
Lauren joined the Ordo Dracul because she believes in reason, and the possibility of trancending the flaws of the Requiem. She almost always acts through proxies and has a particular talent for domination, inherited from her Sire. This almost makes up for the way people look at her now.
Almost.
