Vampire

Background
Gibson was born in San Francisco, California in 1972, Febuary 32nd, 1972 according to him. After being disowned by his mother, a call-girl and drug addict, who smashed his head in with a bronze bust, he stayed in a hospital for several months. After his recovery he started working at one of the local bookstores and began to read voraciously. Especially William Gibson novels. He shared an apartment with a guy named Bobby, and met, and subsequently developed a crush on, their downstairs neighbor, Libby.
Libby and Gibson fell in love, and were inseperable. Then one night, he came home to find Bobby cavorting with two girls in their living room. When one of the girls assaulted him with a sexual aid, he smacked her with it. Checking himself into a mental institution, he began the process of recovery, that is, until Libby came to visit him one day and told him that she had to move back to Oregon because of her family.
Devestated, Gibson turned to his books and the truth slowly dawned on him, that William Gibson had discovered the truth, and it was all in his books. He assumed the name Gibson McCoy (after the author and one of the characters in his books) and began taking copious notes on Tessier-Ashpool, the government, everything.
Secretly, he kept his discoveries and played along with his doctors until he was freed.
Weeks later, a man by the name of William Alexander Mumford came to him. He asked for Gibson's help in making a computer database for his grandchild to use in keeping financial records.
When they got to Mumford's home, a sprawling mansion, Gibson saw Libby. He fainted, and awoke in a bed with Libby standing over him. She explained how she had to leave, and how they were going to be together forever. And she Embraced him.
Mumford walked in, and, in a rage at his grandchilde breaking the rules, attacked her.
Gibson, defending his love, assaulted Mumford and staked him.
Libby, however, looked to be near death. Having just Embraced, and given blood back to Gibson, she wasn't capable of healing. She begged him to take her blood and run, and that she'd always be with him.
14 years have passed and Gibson finally settled in Atlanta (or your city) yet he still believes in Tessier-Ashpool, William Gibson, and that Libby constantly talks to him.

Concept
The character of Gibson McCoy sprung to me one evening while listening to some music from 1994, the grunge era. I was trying to think of a new character, and the blatant mismatching of a vampire who wore flannel and loved Nirvana, really struck me as interesting.
The idea of codes in a book goes back for years, but the main inspiration for that was the idea in Deadlands of Hoyle's Card book having hidden rules for magic was one of the main sources for his Paranoia. I just used William Gibson since he's one of my favorite authors.
