Changeling
Beast Seeming
Winter Court

Background
Derek Brown was born to John and Elise Brown on March 1st, 2000. On the night of his 5th birthday Derek called for his mom to save him from a big black bird in his window. She saw nothing. “It’s just a shadow,” she said. She was partially right. He called for her a second time. Again she saw nothing. The third time he called for her, she did not come. His father said that she can’t keep supporting that behavior. He did not call a fourth time. The scream could not escape his mouth before the shadows covered him. The next moment a nice quiet sleeping “boy” replaced him. His parents slept much better, for their son never cried out again in the night, at least for awhile. But then again, they thought it was their son.

How does a 5 year old boy cope with being stolen away from his home and brought to a dark and scary forest? By forgetting the safe warmness of his bed and becoming like the beasts that grabbed him. Derek was one of the “bringers”. His master wanted things. Lots of things, it seemed. He had many “bringers”. When the master wanted something, he shouted “bringer” and one of his bringers would come. They were all known as “bringer”. Rarely were they called by individual names and never by their original names. 23 years passed. He did what he was asked. He was a good bringer. Then he was asked to bring a child. A memory surfaced. Part of his past came to light. After long years in the dark forest, he remembered the night he arrived and how he was “brought” to the master. He headed home. Not the one he had for 23 years, but the one he was stolen from. But his bed was not empty.

A shadow came over the window. Five years had passed since a similar shadow was cast over that window. This time the boy was 10 not 5 and the shadow was the 28 year old real version of the 10 year old “boy”. The Fetch knew who the shadow was, so he screamed. He screamed for his Mommy. She came in and saw the man that was her boy standing in the window. They locked eyes for a moment before she grabbed her 10 year old “son” and ran. There was no recognition. He had aged far more than the time he was gone. There was no going back home. But he could not go back to the slave’s life he had been living. He was no longer Derek Brown. Not knowing another name, he kept “Bringer”.

Bringer knows there is no going back. He feels the loss of his life stronger than most would. His sorrow resonated strongly with the Winter Court, which is why they sought him out. He still brings things to those who ask for them. He’s good at that. Sometimes the object belongs to the person asking, sometimes it doesn’t. No matter to Bringer. His job is to get it, not judge who should have it. At least he has something to keep himself occupied. To keep him from dwelling too long on the family that is not his anymore.

Holy Crap he's got a lot of Wyrd. Aren't there any flight related Contracts he could have instead? Maybe more stealth, less Fang and Claw?
